Avranches, the city of the Abrincates, mentioned by Julius Caesar (!), was an important place since the Roman Empire. In 708, it was there that Bishop Aubert was called by the Archangel to found the sanctuary of Mont-Saint-Michel. Today intimately linked to the sanctuary of Mons, the exceptional manuscripts of the Benedictine monks are exhibited in a museum dedicated to them: the Scriptorial.​
